Bronsten "Kalei" Kossow is blessed with an amazing family that is always there to support him. His mother, Kristen (Shim-Kossow) Kam; his father, Elmer Fukumitsu; and step-father, Chris Kam. His family has always given him their utmost support in any venture he has taken on, and he is eternally grateful for that. In addition, he is also thankful to have his grandparents in his life: Glenn and Barbara (Shim) Kossow, and Ronald and Sandra Kam. His late grandparents, Kazuo and Rose (Hulihe'e) Fukumitsu, were also wonderful influences in his life.

His family, along with many other wonderful people he has met throughout his life, have always inspired him to do the right thing. Bringing and sharing that spirit has alway been a passion of his. "I believe that with the spirit of ALOHA: Akahai (Kindness), Lokahi (Togetherness), Oluolu (Agreeability), Ha'aha'a (Humility), and Ahonui (Patience), we are able to accomplish much. I learned these traits when I was a young leader in the Boy Scouts." he said. Mr. Kossow has served in multiple positions in the scouts ranging from the district level to a portion of the Pacific Region.

One of his many accomplishments is an organizational project called the Hoilina (Legacy) Project. During this project, he was able to meet with elder members of the community, interview them, and document their stories.  Ensuring that the values and traditions of our kupuna stay respected, while balancing that with the up and coming traditions of new generations is a value that is very important to him. It was a value of his when he ran for Hawaii State Representative for Hawaii State District 6 in 2016, and that still holds true today.

Mr. Kossow is currently employed with Paradise Helicopters, a locally owned and operated tour company, as a Flight Coordinator. For the last three years, he has been able to spread the spirit of aloha to visitors from across the globe in his roles there.  He looks forward to continuing to spread that spirit of aloha throughout our Kona community as he serves you as our next County Councilperson for Hawaii County's District 7.
